Weight Distribution Recommendation for a 2015 Ford Expedition and 8,600 Pound Trailer

To Whom it May Concern, We are looking at a Keystone Bullet 335BHS,which has a GTW of 8600 lbs. We have a 2015 Expedition EL as our tow vehicle with trailer package and are looking for recommendations on an integral weight distribution and sway control hitch. We are rated at 9100 lbs, so we understand we are at the upper end of what we should be towing. Aside from the weight, our other concern is the 37foot length of the trailer and limiting sway without compromising maneuverability. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. To choose a weight distribution system you will need to go by the total tongue weight of the set up. This is calculated by taking the tongue weight of the trailer, when loaded and ready to tow, and adding to that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.

A trailer that weighs 8,600 pounds max would have a tongue weight in the neighborhood of 860 to 1,290 pounds not counting anything behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.

For this weight I recommend Reese Steadi-Flex system # RP66560. It is rated for 600 to 1,200 pounds tongue weight. The next size up, # RP66561, is rated for 700 to 1,400 pounds tongue weight. Once you have a good estimated of the total tongue weight you can choice the appropriately rated system.

The only other item needed for either is a properly sized ball, # 63836. Both of these systems have built-in sway control at the spring bars and head so sway will not be a concern. I have linked a video featuring the Steadi-Flex system for you.
