Installing An Electric Brake Controller And Wiring Suggestions For A 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon
Question:
Morning, Im going to be purchasing ETBC7 and the P3 controller for my Outback 2015. I watched the installation videos and they are all under the vehicle. Is there any reason why I could not install internally to the vehicle? Thanks!

For your 2015 Subaru Outback-Wagon, the only reason why we install wiring outside of the vehicle is because it is much easier to route the wire and the wire starts and ends on the outside of the vehicle so there is one less hole and no need to hide wire that may need to be inspected at a later date if there is a malfunction. Running wire inside a vehicle sounds easier than it is with all the panels and there is a greater possibility of pinching or crimping the wire so although you absolutely can choose to route the cables internally if that is your preference.
The Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires, # ETBC7, will connect to your vehicle 4 way and give you the 7-way and 4-way connector at the bumper of your Outback. Wires will need to be run for your reverse function, your 12V power from the battery, and your brake controller. All of the wire, connectors, and circuit breakers you need are included in this kit.
The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 , # 90195, you mentioned if my personal favorite brake controller. It is proportional, so the same braking force you apply in your vehicle will be applied to your trailer brakes as well. It has the LCD screen that is customizable and will let you know of any issues and doesn't require any de-coding. It has 3 levels of boost and is adjustable for your desired driving preferences.
