Cartridge Style Block Heater KH11813 Installation in 2014 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
I see where this cartridge s into the block, but is this hole a deep well into the engine block, or is it part of the cooling circuit? Reason Im asking is that I drive on a lot of dirt roads, and am worried about dust finding its way into my engine.

You don't need to worry about dust getting into your engine block from using a cartridge style block heater like the Kat's # KH11813 which is a fit for your 2014 Toyota Tacoma with 4.0L V6. This heater will be immersed in your coolant fluid to warm it (but do not use a 100-percent anti-freeze solution and do not start the engine with the heater plugged in).
Kat's specifies the installation point for the heater as being the front right-hand (passenger) side of the block for 4x2s, and the rear left-hand (driver-side) for 4x4s.
Please refer to the linked installation video.
