Sidewinder Pin Box For Fifth Wheel Trailer Over 16,000-lbs.

Question:

Hello, I realize the Airborne Sidewinder RP61422 is rated at 16000 GVW. My 5th Wheel has a dry weight of approx. 13000, but a GVW of 16162. Will the Airborne Sidewinder be sufficient for my RV or is there another sidewinder option I should use such as the 19000 RP61421? I couldnt find an Airborne Sidewinder with a higher GVW than 16000. The pin box I have is a lippert 1621HD. Thanks,

If you have concerns that the # RP61422 is not big enough to handle the fifth wheel weight you have then I do recommend going with a more heavy-duty unit. If you do not ever plan on loading your trailer with cargo that would exceed the 16K the # RP61422 pin box will work well for you. We do not have an Airborne system with a higher capacity than 16,000-lbs that can replace the 1621HD pin box you have.

The # RP34FR is what I recommend for you. This system has a 20,000-lb towing capacity and will move the pivot point an additional 22-inches toward the rear of the vehicle so you can safely execute 90-degree turns.
