What Keeps The Erickson Truck Bed Ladder Rack - Side Mount Upright?

Question:

without bolting the feet to bed, what keeps these racks upright? are they simply friction fit?

The Erickson Truck Bed Ladder Rack - Side Mount - Steel - 250 lbs, # EM07708, is installed with a bolt/clamp assembly to keep it tight at the top rail of the truck bed and then allen bolts put pressure on the bottom plate to keep the bottom in place to keep the rack vertical. It does use friction to keep it in place. The way the rack is made, the pressure from the weight on the rack will push against the bottom plate to add additional friction to the mount. With the pressure from the bolts and the pressure from the ladder or other weight added, the rack isn't going anywhere when installed correctly.

I've attached a video review for you that includes the installation.
