How Is Wheel Base Measured For The Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack Platform Style?
Question:
Is it from where the wheel touches the ground? How do you measure wheel base?

Expert Reply:
The wheel base of the Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack Platform Style for 1-1/4" and 2" Trailer Hitches # S64650 is a maximum of 51-1/2" long. This is measured from the center of wheel loop to center of wheel loop so that you can measure the wheel base of your bike from the center of your front tire to the center of your rear tire and know if it will fit in this particular rack. The measurement from the ground to the bottom of the rack is the ground clearance, but we can't measure the ground clearance to your bike tire without having your bike installed in the rack and the rack installed on your vehicle. That clearance will be less with the wheel hoop versus a cradle style rack.
