Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer with a Recessed Gooseneck Hitch in a Flat Bed Truck
Question:
I have a Knaphied flat bed that came with a under the floor Gooseneck Ball hitch and was wondering witch hitch would be best to use. I would like to be able to easily remove the hitch when not towing so I could use the truck bed for hauling and saw that Draw Tight makes a hitch that looks like it may work but the video was for a pickup truck and not a flat bed and I didnt know if that made a difference. My truck is a 2001 Dodge 3500 cab and chassis 4x4.

The pickup bed versus the flat bed does make a difference. The issue is that on your flat bed the ball is recessed and a hitch like # 9480 won't be able to reach. Also the Hi-Rise hitch only works with certain gooseneck hitches.
Since your gooseneck hitch ball is recessed then you will need a different type of adapter that attaches to the trailer's pin box, # AM3139. I have included a link to a video review of this adapter for you.
