Is There Way To Lock Rola Roof Basket # 59504 To Chevrolet Suburban
Question:
I bought and installed this product, but realized how easy it would be to steal it from the top of my suburban. Is there any way to lock the roof basket to the roof rack? Does Rola have any locking mechanisms to keep the basket from being stolen? Also, in using the extension, would it be more advantageous to add an extra cross bar to the rack or is the roof rack strong enough without it?

There is a way to lock the Rola Roof Mounted Cargo Basket, part 59504 (DISCONTINUED), to your Chevrolet Suburban, but part 59504 does not have integrated locks.
What you can do is use Thule # TH538XT cable lock to lock the Rola Roof Rack to your Suburban to prevent theft. To do this you would just run the lock through the Rola Roof Rack and the cross bars on your Chevrolet Suburban.
Rola does not offer any locking mechanisms at this time to prevent the basket from being stolen.
Our representative at Rola informed me that you will not need to install another cross bar to install on your vehicle. You would just need to adjust the cross bars to fit the Rola Cargo Basket Extension on your Chevrolet Suburban.
When using the extension, part 59505 (DISCONTINUED), with the Rola Cargo Basket, part 59504 (DISCONTINUED), the total length of the basket will be just over 70 inches.
