Is this an oem product? Can I switch original gate and this gate back and forth without tools?

I contacted our representative at Stromberg Carlson to inquire about the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate, part # VGM-99-4000.

Part # VGM-99-4000 is not an OEM product and is designed to fit 1999 to 2007 Chevrolet Silverado and will not fit your 2009 Chevrolet Silverado. For your 2009 Chevrolet Silverado, you will need Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate, part # VGM-07-4000.

You can switch the original tailgate out for the Stromberg Carslon Tailgate in a matter of minutes and without any tools. You would simply disconnect and remove the cables from your OEM tailgate and slide tailgate out. Part # VGM-07-4000 will then install and you would install the new cables.

Our representative informed me that they have had customers change out their tailgates in the parking lot in a matter of a few minutes without any tools.
