How to Find the Wiring for a Brake Controller on a 2006 Cadillac SRX
Question:
Im trying to install the ETBC7 on a 2006 Cadillac SRX and having trouble finding the cold side of the brake switch. I can see the switch white flat cylindrical but the wires to it are very difficult to reach and are surrounded by a loom. I can see where the wires join the main group of wires, about 3 dozen, that then go into the firewall. Before I try to test each one can you tell me what color the wire Im looking for might be? Thanks.

It sounds like you are looking for the correct wire to connect your brake controller to your 2006 Cadillac SRX brakes. I do have a way to help you, but there is no color schematic when it comes to the wiring for your brake controller.
I checked with my contact at Cequent, a brake controller manufacturer, and he said that the place you will want to pick up the brake light signal is on the wire for the third brake light, at the rear of the vehicle. This will be a white wire and will most likely be at the top of the lift gate where the harness goes from the body to the gate. To make sure you have the right wire, and to avoid splicing a bunch of wires, I recommend using the Circuit Tester Kit # PTW2993. It has the option of just poking a small hole into the wires for testing instead of having to splice.
I have attached an install video of the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 on a 2009 Cadillac Escalade to help show you what you might be looking at.
