RV Bike Rack Recommendation for Carrying 2 Bikes

Question:

Trying to buy a 2 bike hitch mounted bike rack for our 5th wheel. Not sure if we need the platform type or the hanging type. And it needs to be RV rated. Please advise. We really like the thule vertex with the integrated lock, but it is not RV rated? What does RV rated mean, anyway?

At the rear of a trailer or RV the ride quality is very rough when compared to the ride quality at the rear of a passenger vehicle. Reason being the suspension isn't as sophisticated and there is a longer distance between the rear axle and the rear of the trailer which exaggerates the movement of the trailer when hitting bumps. Because of that only a few bike racks were designed to be reinforced enough for that type of use.

I personally like platform bike racks as they are easier to load bikes onto and they hold the bikes in a more secure way that prevents any possible movement. For a platform bike rack that is RV approved the Swagman Dispatch part # S44FR is a confirmed fit that would work well. I attached a review video for this for you to check out as well.
