Recommended Hitch Mounted Bike Rack For Class 1 Hitch

Question:

Hello- I am looking for a hitch mounted class 1 rack for e-bikes. specifically with an optional ramp similar to the hitch mounted dirt bike racks. I currently have the Sport Rack, however, it does not have a tamp system to roll the bikes onto the rack opposed to lifting. Do you sell a rack to fit my needs? Thanks in advance.

My recommendation for a Class 1 bike rack is the Kuat NV 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" Hitches - Tilting - Aluminum - Gunmetal Gray # NV12G. This versitile design fits most bikes regardless of size, weight, frame design, susension, or brake style. It has racheting hooks that firmly grip your bikes by the front wheels so there is no frame contact and the TPE coating prevents hooks from scratching and scuffing your bike paint. This rack includes a hitch lock and retractable cable lock to secure your bikes to your rack and the rack to your vehicle. This rack weighs 60 lbs.

Unfortunately there is not an e-bike carrier for the Class 1 hitches so I have given you recommendations that should work for your bike dimensions and weight estimates. There is not a motorcycle style carrier for 1-1/4 inch carriers whether class 1 or class 2, so I can't provide a bike rack with a ramp. I have attached a link to the page for all of our Class 1 hitch mounted bike racks for you.

You will need to look at the maximum tongue weight of your specific hitch and stay within its capacity with your bike rack and bike weight combination. It is very important that you do not exceed this limit.

You could consider the 17x46 Curt Cargo Carrier # C18145 for 1-1/4" Hitches - Steel. It will hold 500 pounds, but remember, you can't. You must check your tong weight and subtract the 28 pounds of this carrier from your tongue weight to see if you can also hold your bike. This carrier has rails that may help you secure your bike.

You could also consider the the Curt 19 X 47 Carrier #C18110. It weighs 30 pounds and does not have rails.

I have attached videos of both.
