Is there Clearance for Snow Chains on the Front of a 2003 Toyota 4 Runner
Question:
Is this cable small enough so it does not rub on any parts of the inside of the wheel. It looks like there is not enough room for a normal chain to fit my 2003 Toyota 4 Runner and I want to make sure before I buy any cables that they will not damage or rub up on anything on the inside of the wheelfront. Let me know your opinion? Thank you

The Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains, item # PW3027C, are SAE Class S Type chains. This determination means that the chains will fit on vehicles with at least 15 mm of clearance between the tire and other vehicle components such as the wheel well.
For your 2003 Toyota 4Runner with 265/65-17 tires the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains, item # PW3027C, will work well on the rear tires where they are needed most. You should always install snow chains on the main drive axle. If you would like to install these chains on the front too, you will need to consult your owners manual for recommendations. The manual may prohibit the use of chains on the front, or recommend a Class S chain because of limited clearance.
I searched for a 2003 4Runner manual online and could not find any recommendations for snow chains for the front. If there is no recommendation for snow chains in the manual you will need to measure to be sure that there is at least 15mm of clearance between the tire side wall and tread and all parts of the vehicle with the tires turned fully left and then fully right. If you have larger aftermarket tires on your vehicle measuring is imperative.
You will also want to be sure the chains are adjusted properly and that you do net exceed 30 miles per hour when they are on the vehicle. For the Glacier cables the Glacier Rubber Adjusters, item # PW99, for Light-Truck Snow Chains are a good idea to keep the chains tight and close to the tire so they do not damage the vehicle.
