Moving your Prodigy P2 brake controller, item # 90885, to your 2008 GMC Sierra truck will require that you have a Replacement Brake Control Plug-In Harness, item # 20127, installed on the GMC Sierra. We have a video detailing the installation of this harness for you to review.
The P2 and the Voyager are wired the same. The white wire is ground, the black wire is power into the brake controller, the red wire is the stoplight switch circuit and the blue wire is the output for the electric trailer brakes.
If your Voyager brake controller is a newer model, less than 2 years old, then you may well have the connector already installed on your GMC and you will only need the Mounting Pocket for Tekonsha Prodigy Proportional Brake Controller, item # 7686, to mount the Prodigy to the dash of your truck.
If your brake controller is the older model and was hard wired without a Tekonsha harness, then you will need to install the # 20127 harness mentioned and use the Mounting pocket, # 7686. Once you have the mounting pocket and harness installed on both vehicles you will simply unplug the harness from the back of the brake controller and switch it between vehicles when needed.
Keep in mind that the different electrical systems in your vehicles will activate the trailer brakes differently so when switching the controller between vehicles you will need to check the brake controller settings, and adjust them for the trailer you are pulling.
