Recommendation For Lifting A Tandem Axle Boat Trailer For More Clearance

Question:

I have a tandom axle trailer. The spring hangers are 3.5 inches long. If I put a longer hanger in the middle will it lift the trailer?? I need about 1 inch more clearance I see you mentioned a alignment kit. Will a longer spring hanger work at a cheaper price? I see some kits have longer center spring hangers This is a boat trailer. Thanks again

You can use a longer center hanger for the springs, but you will need to add as much height as possible because the spring deflection won't just mean one inch additional hanger length equals one inch of height lifted. Only changing out the center will not give you the additional height of 1 inch you are seeking.

My recommendation is that you use a hanger like the Redline Center Hanger for Double-Eye Springs - 5-7/16" Tall - 3/4" Bolt Hole, # 115919, for all your front and rear mounts in addition to the center mounts, so 6 total. This is a weld on appliction. This is the tallest hanger we carry and your best shot at gaining an inch of clearance without using an alignment kit that would guarantee the clearance.
