Does Weight of Weight Distribution System Count as Tongue Weight
Question:
I know that the weight of any equipment in the bed of the truck behind the rear axle needs to be added to the tongue weight, but what about the weight of the shank, head and trunnion bars..should their weight be added also?

Expert Reply:
The weight of a weight distribution system does not get factored in as part of the tongue weight. Essentially the system becomes a part of the trailer hitch, which means the weight of it does not count as tongue weight either.
