Was the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Wiring Harness 22k, # RP30033, once only Capable of 20k

Question:

I was told that the 20k hitch is no longer sold, and that it was upgraded to pull same as a 22k. Is this basically the same hitch? I have compared the two and they seem to be the same. Thanks,

I spoke with my contact at Reese and he told me that the current 22k fifth wheel was at one point the 20k hitch. They retested the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Wiring Harness - 22,000 lbs, part # RP30033, back when it was only 20k and found that it was capable of 22k so they relabeled it as such.

So yes, the old 20k hitch is the same as the new 22k hitch.
