Snow Tire Chain Recommendation For A 1999 Ford Mustang GT
Question:
Hi, I plan to drive my 99 mustang GT to yellowstone this christmas and need dependable and safe tire chains capable of handlng all the mountain passes in montana at that time of year. Which product would you recommend for me? I want the best performance out of these chains. Thanks,

Before buying snow tire chains you will want to check your owners manual or with the Ford dealer to see if you can install snow tire chains on your 1999 Ford Mustang GT, or if there are any limitations.
If you have the 225/55R16 tire size on your 1999 Ford Mustang GT I would recommend the Thule CB12 Snow Tire Chains # TH01221100. They have an internal clearance measurement of 12 mm which means they are a SAE Class S compatible. A Class S snow tire chain has to have an internal clearance of 15mm or less. That measurement means the clearance between the tire sidewall and the closest part of your vehicle. Most of the newer vehicles with larger tires recommend Class S snow chains because of limited tire clearance.
If you have the 245/45R17 tire size on your Mustang GT I would recommend the Thule CB12 Snow Tire Chains # TH01221102. These are the same CB12 snow chains as mentioned above.
I am including a link to a review on the Thule CB12 snow chains.
If your vehicle allows it you can use snow tire chains on all four tires or just on the rear of a rear wheel drive vehicle.
I am including a link to a FAQ page on snow tire chains and a link to a page on Thule snow tire chains.
