The Class II Draw-Tite hitch # 36417 has a maximum rated towing capacity of 3500-lbs. This rating applies to the hitch itself and the Odyssey could potentially have a lower or higher towing capacity depending on the particular engine, transmission and accessory options installed at the factory.

I reviewed an online edition of the owner's manual for the 2011 Odyssey and on page 589 the towing capacities, based on passenger count, are listed. These range from the maximum trailer weight of 3500-lbs if there are only 2 passengers to the minimum of 1450-lbs if the vehicle has 7 passengers in it.

Towing also requires a wiring harness to activate the trailer's lights, a ball mount and a hitch ball of the correct size to match your trailer coupler. For 4-pole wiring use plug-in custom kit # 118521. The recommended ball mount is part # 36071 and with it you can use either 2-inch ball # 19258 or 1-7/8-inch ball # 19256.
