Where To Install Snow Tire Chains On A 2011 Toyota Tundra

Question:

2011 Toyota Tundra owners manual says do not put chains on front wheels. I tried and they hit the steering connector. Will cables work? Help.

If your vehicle owners manual specifies that you should not use snow chains on the front of your 2011 Toyota Tundra, then I would recommend following the instructions in your owners manual. When Toyota says no snow chains they also mean snow cables, unless they specify that cables are okay.

Using snow chains or cables on the front of your 2011 Toyota Tundra is not recommended by Toyota because either it will cause damage to the vehicle, or there is not enough clearance in the wheel wells for snow chains to be attached around the tires.

The basic rule on snow chains is that they will go on the driving wheels. On a 4-wheel drive vehicle if you can only use one set of chains, they are placed on the rear wheels.

I am including a link to a FAQ page that will give some basic guidelines of snow tire chains.
