For your Mercedes-Benz M-Class, I recommend using a weight distribution system rather than a suspension enhancement system like the Air Lift system. Depending on the size of your trailer and if your hitch is rated for it, a weight distribution system can help the ride on your Mercedes-Benz M-Class when towing. Weight distribution helps the ride of your vehicle and camper by distributing the trailer tongue weight between the rear axle and front axle of your ML350. The leverage from the spring bar design helps transfer the weight evenly and in turn results in a smooth level ride.
Your hitch's id tag should list if it is able to use weight distribution. The tag will usually list a standard gross trailer weight and maximum tongue rate and one for using weight distribution. If weight distribution weights are listed, then your hitch can use a weight distribution hitch.
The criteria for deciding on which weight distribution system you need is knowing what your total tongue weight on your vehicle and trailer. The total tongue weight is the loaded and ready to tow tongue weight of trailer plus all the added cargo weight you will carry in the area behind the rear wheels of your Mercedes-Benz. I have attached an article that will show you how to measure your total tongue weight.
The weight distribution system that I would recommend is the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution and Sway Control System, like part # EQ37060ET. This Equal-i-zer system is rated on total tongue weights from 200-600 lbs. You may need a higher tongue weight rated model # EQ37100ET depending the size of your trailer and what your total tongue weight is on your vehicle and trailer. The Equal-i-zer system bolts on to trailer's tongue without drilling into the frame and has a 4 point anti-sway system that will prevent and correct trailer sway.
Air Lifter Helper Springs are designed to help enhance the suspension by using air bags to add support when hauling loads and will improve handling, braking, and overall ride. Unfortunately, Air Lift and the other air bag or spring suspension enhancement systems that we carry do not have an application that fits your 2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Class.
This may be due to how your rear suspension is designed and operates for the Mercedes-Benz M-Class. Most luxury vehicles have specially designed suspensions that are suppose to provide the best handling and ride in the automobile market. Some of these systems are controlled by the on-board computer of these vehicles. In this case, adding suspension enhancement might interfere with vehicle's suspension system.
