Does Weight of Weight Distribution System Count as Tongue Weight

Question:

First to determine tongue weight do I add weight of WDH and trailer hitch on Van plus dead weight of trailers tongue weight 260 lbs plus any cargo in van behind rear axle to figure which WDH system to use? Second all your WDH systems state max tongue weight. Some state minimum tongue weight.Do all systems have a range? Specifically PS49901. Thanks

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

The range for the part # PS49901 is basically around 200-550 lbs. The weight of the WD system does not count as additional tongue weight.
