Brake Controller Recommendation for Volkswagen Touareg that Bypasses Install Complexity

Question:

I need to install a brake controller on a 2013 VW Touareg. Does this apply to my vehicle? https://www.etrailer.com/faq-tb-09-0021-Tekonsha.aspx I found the brake controller port on the vehicle and it seems to match the description in the article. Ive contacted two trailer shops in my area and they will not touch it. I am guessing this is why. Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Yes, the tech bulletin you referenced (which I linked) does apply to your 2013 Volkswagen Touareg for installing a brake controller. That would be why your local shops are a bit leery on the install.

A way around the complexity is the RF brake controller part # TK94FR which actually installs on the trailer and uses the brake signal from there which is much easier. All you need is a 7-way with an active 12 volt circuit.
