Will Dexter 23-468 Assemblies Replace Surge Brake Assemblies on 3,500 lb Axle
Question:
Hi, I have a boat trailer with tandem 3500# axles 4inch . Id like to swap out the surge disk brakes for electric drums, and am interested in your Dexter self adjusting electric brakes Code 23-468 for example. As mentioned, the axles are a 4inch , and use a spindle that looks identical to these mounted to a 2inch x 3inch steel tube cross bar: http://www.pacifictrailers.com/3500-trailer-axle-spindle/ The backing plate is welded to the upright on the spindle. Do you know if the electric backing plates will mount to these spindles? Im concerned about how the backing plates seem to the recessed where they mount, concerned that they might interfere with the or cross tube. Do you have any idea with these brakes will work with those spindles? It might be a buy it and try it type thing, but I dont want to be stuck with parts that dont work. Thank you!

The 10" Nev-R-Adjust Electric Brake Assembly # 23-468 would bolt right up to the mounting flange of your trailer axle that currently has surge brakes attached. The 4 bolt mounting flange uses a standard mounting bolt pattern which would be the same as what's on your trailer.
I also attached a link to a page that has a guide for adding electric brakes to a trailer for you to check out as well.
