Recommended Brake Controller and Wiring for 2003 Honda Odyssey

What components do I need to install a trailer brake controller on my 2003 Honda Odyssey with a 4 way already installed?

To install a trailer brake controller on your 2003 Honda Odyssey, you will first need a brake controller. I recommend the Techonsha Prodigy P3, # 90195, because it has some really nice features like a color LCD screen that makes every reading easy to understand. It also has 3 boost levels, and has integrated safeguards to protect your vehicle like battery protection. This brake controller will allow your trailer brakes to apply a proportional amount of pressure as you apply to the brakes in your 2003 Honda Odyssey.
Another more economical option for a brake controller I recommend is the Tekonsha PowerTrac Electronic Brake Controller, # 39523 with wiring harness # 20127. This is a time delayed brake controller with braking intensity you can set to your preference and towing application.
We will also need to convert your current 4-way flat trailer connector to a 7-way. For that conversion, as well as to wire your brake controller, I recommend the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat, # ETBC7. This kit will allow you to connect your current 4 way, add the reverse light, and run the wiring for your brake controller and power wire. All of the connectors and the circuit breakers are included in this kit. I've attached a video as well as the instructions.
