Do I Need To Put Snow Chains on the Front and Back Wheels of my 2010 Lexus RX 450H AWD
Question:
I have a 2010 Lexus RX 450h AWD, which predominantly drives as a front wheel drive vehicle, but adds power to rear wheels if needed I believe the rear wheels are driven by electric power on demand. Is it adequate to put these THULE summit chains on the front wheels only or is it necessary to put on all four wheels which would be quite pricey.

Expert Reply:
You can put a pair of Snow Tire Chains on just the front wheels of your 2010 Lexus RX 450H AWD and you would be fine in the snow.
For added stability it would not hurt to have another pair on the rear wheels, but it is not necessary.
You should also check with the owners manual of the vehicle to ensure that your vehicle is compatible with snow chains.
I have attached a snow chain FAQ article that you might find helpful below.
There is also the snow chain laws for your state listed in the FAQ page.
