Since your 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 already has a 7-way installed and came with a tow package, installation of Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, part # 90885 will only require a few steps.

First, you will need to locate a bundle of 5 blunt-cut wires under the driver side of the dash between the brake pedal and kick panel, and there may be a white tag hanging off the wires. There will be a Red/Black wire, White wire, Light Blue/White wire, Dark Blue wire, and there may or may not be an Orange wire. The wires may be wrapped in electrical taped and tucked away under the dash.

Next, you will connect the wires under the dash to the wires on the brake controller. The Red/Black vehicle wire will connect to the Black wire on the brake controller. The White vehicle wire will connect to the White wire on the brake controller. The Light Blue/White vehicle wire will connect to Red wire on brake controller. The Dark Blue vehicle wire will connect to the Blue wire on the brake controller.

Finally, there may be a few connections you will need to make under the hood, the wires may already be connected since your vehicle has the tow package. You will need to locate 2 wires, both wires are red/black with eyelets on the end. One wire is located between the fuse box and driver side fender, the other should be located under the brake master cylinder. On the driver side, remove the fuse box cover, there will be 2 threaded studs that are different sizes, the wires which have different sized eyelets will connect to the corresponding studs using M6 Nut, part # 185916, and M8 Nut, part # 185917.

Since you have already installed a 7-way connector at the rear of your vehicle like the Twist-in, 7-Pole, part # PK11916, installation of the brake controller is complete, and you will just need to adjust the settings on the brake controller per the instructions.

I have linked a video installation of a brake controller on a 2008 GMC Sierra that should be very similar to the installation on your 2010 Chevrolet Silverado, the video also shows where the wires under the hood are located. I have also linked FAQ Aftermarket Brake Control Wiring for 07-11 GM Full-Size Truck with Factory Brake Control that illustrates the brake controller instructions.
