Recommended Hitch Reciever For 1998 Ford E450 Cutaway Cab and Chassis
Question:
I am in the market for a receiver hitch for my 1998 Ford E-Super Duty early E450 cutaway cab/chassis. I could not find anything on this site listing the E450. Just trying to see what is available on the market that might work better with this chassis before I hack up and modify a receiver I have that is made for the E-Series vans. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Your 1998 Ford E450 Cutaway Cab and Chassis is a unique fit. There isn't a custom hitch that is a specific fit for that vehicle. I reached out to my contact at Cequent and we determined a couple options that I recommend to choose from.
The Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Receiver - Weld On - Class V - 2", # 41990-07, has 7 inch tall brackets that need to be welded to the frame. This hitch has a 44 inch square tube that is 3 inches deep. It has a maximum gross trailer weight rating of 16,000 lbs and a max tongue weight of 1600 lbs. It is not to be used with weight distribution systems for trailers.
Another very similar option is the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Receiver - Weld On - Class V - 2", # 41990-16. The only difference between these two hitches is this hitch has a 16 inch bracket height to give you more bumper clearance.
You may also want an adjustable ball-mount like the B&W Tow & Stow Pintle Hook with 2-5/16" Ball - 2" Hitches - 10,000 lbs/16,000 lbs, # BWTS10056, along with an Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches like # 63232 to secure your mount to the hitch. This will give you a rise of up to 6-1/2 inches and a drop of up to 8 inches to allow you to tow level.
If you have wiring needs as well, let me know and I'd be happy to help. I've attached an article to help you determine your wiring needs.
