Square Axle Weight Rating with Hubs that have 25580 and 15123 Bearings
Question:
Hey there, Im currently working on replacing parts on an old trailer. Ive been trying to determine the weight rating for the axles as there are no labels and was hoping you could help. The 24 foot, dual-axle trailer has 2-inch-square axles with Timken 25580 inner bearings and Timken 15123 outer bearings, a 6 x 5.5 lug pattern, 12 x 2 inch electric brake assemblies with 5-bolt flanges, and 5-leaf springs. Thanks for your help.

Expert Reply:
Square axles are a bit harder to determine their capacities based on diameter but based on the bolt pattern and diameter of the hubs you most likely have a 5,200 lb or 6,000 lb rated axle.
Especially when you consider that all of the hubs that match your bearing set are 5.2 k or 6k. See link.
