Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Towing a 2000 lb Snowmobile Trailer
Question:
2000 Jeep Cherokee 4door 4x4 I want to make sure that i get the right trans cooler for my jeep. I am adding a hitch so i can tow my 2000lb snowmobile trailer. I want to make sure my trans dosnt blow up climing the mountain. Can you advise me on the correct cooler for me. Also, i am concerned that it will not fit in front of the stock radiator, or constrict flow to the primary coolant ratiator for the engine to cause overheating, or force to to jurry rig an installation if the parts dont line up.

The Derale Transmission Cooler, item # D13502, will be the correct cooler for your 2000 Jeep Cherokee 4door 4x4. This cooler will install in front of the vehicles radiator and air conditioning condenser and is 11 inches Wide x 7-1/4 inches tall x 7/8 inches deep. You should measure to make sure that there is room to install the cooler in this position before you order, but there should not be a problem.
You will need to determine how the cooler lines will splice into the transmission cooler return line on your vehicle. The 2000 Jeep Cherokee came one of two ways. You will need the Jeep OEM Custom Transmission Cooler Fitting Kit # HH41413. If you have 3/8 inch inside diameter hose you will need to use the Radiator Adapter Fittings for Dodge and Jeep, item # D13028. The only way to determine which application is right for your Cherokee is to physically check.
I have posted some information on selecting and installing transmission coolers and a video showing a typical transmission cooler installation for you to review.
Once you have checked the above items you will be able to select the correct fittings and determine the size of cooler you can use. If the # D13502 cooler is too large you can use the Derale Transmission Cooler, item # D13501, which is smaller and should work for you. The dimensions of this cooler are 11 inches wide x 5-3/4 inches tall x 7/8 inches deep.
