Recommended Tire Chains for 2016 Honda CR-V with 265/60R18 Sized Tires

Question:

Im looking for tire chains for my new 2016 Honda CR-V. The owners manual specifies the following: P225/60 R 18 99H SCC Radial chain TC 2111 MM Only the tire size made any sense to the local NAPA store. Your website asks only for tire size and makes no reference to any of the other numbers cited by the owners manual. Can you identify what stock number in your inventory would comply with the specifications for my CR-V?

Like you said the tire size P225/80R18 on your 2016 Honda CR-V makes sense. In addition some tires have a load rating and a speed rating. That's the 99H. The 99 is an identifying code that means your tires can have a maximum of 1,709 pounds per tire. This doesn't mean your car can necessarily be 6,836 pounds(1,709 x 4) but if it could, the tires could handle it. The H is the speed rating which indicates the tires are rated for up to 130 mph.

Now to the part that actually answers your question. Security Chain Company (SCC) Radial Chain is a brand of tire chains and the TC2111MM is a model number of their chains. Basically, Honda is requiring that you use chains that require minimal internal clearance to avoid them from coming into contact with any part of the vehicle.

The best way to do this is to find any chain that is Class S compatible. To fit your CR-V, the Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains # TC1046, which are a manual adjust, use steel rollers to gain traction through the snow.

For the top of line chain that also automatically tightens and is extremely easy to install, the Thule Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains # TH02230K66 is the way to go. These require zero internal clearance since they install around the outside of the tire and therefore have no chance of interfering with anything on your CR-V. I've attached a video showing you how easy they are to install as well.
