Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2012 Ford F-250 Short Bed

Question:

I own a 2012 F-250 4X4 with the short bed. I guess a 6.5 foot in length. I am looking into buying a 2007 fifth wheel made by Sportster. Model 36SE3. This trailer is right at 40 feet long and GWR is 18,000. Which hitch do you recommend? I do like the BandW, but not sure if I need the slider, plus it is $$$. Thank you for you help.

For your 2012 Ford F-250 the B and W fifth wheel setup would be what we recommend. This is the nicest hitch on the market as most would say so we recommend it very highly. Since you have a short bed truck you do have to go with a slider hitch so that you have turning clearance.

That means that for a hitch you would need the part # BWRVK3400-5W and then for the rail kit you would need the part # BWGNRK1111-5W. This hitch has a 20k towing capacity so it would be great in that regard as well.
