5-Way Recommendation for Trailer for Installing Reverse Lights
Question:
Hi, I am looking to add LED reverse lights to my utility trailer. I have already ed 2 x #BUL78C3MB and 2 x #A45CB. Now I need to figure out the wiring adapter. I have a combo 4 flat/7 Round on my truck. I know I need 5 wires for the trailer with reverse light added. I was thinking of a single pole from the reverse lights, plus the current 4 way flat on the trailer, connected to #HM47570 in the 5 way flat connector. That way, I have flexibility if someone borrows the trailer but only has a 4 way, they just dont connect that single pole. Will this work? Is there a PN for a single pole wire lead?

What's great about 4-way flats and 5-way flats is that they can fit each other without the need for an adapter. So what would be your best option is to use the part # HM47570 in the 7-way of your truck and then add a 5-way part # A40W5B to your trailer. Basically you would want to cut off the 4-way wires short and then leave the 5th reverse light wire long to run it back to the reverse lights. The remaining wires would wire directly to the 4-way wires the trailer currently has.
