Recommendation for a Cost Effective, Weatherproof Roof Mounted Cargo Bag for a 2007 Chevy Tahoe
Question:
I am looking for an inexpensive rooftop cargo carrier for a 2007 Chevy Tahoe LT with a sunroof. Will this carrier work? Is another carrier better? I will use it once in awhile for vacation, so it can be a basic waterproof bag.

For a basic, cost-effective roof mounted cargo bag, the Advantage Rooftop Cargo Carrier Bag, # HE3021, would be a good choice. This bag can mount to cross bars and/or side rails on a factory roof rack on the 2007 Chevy Tahoe. If the vehicle just has side rails, the bag will rest directly on top of the roof, so you will need to make sure you do not exceed the weight capacity of the roof. You will most likely not be able to use the sun roof with the bag on top of the vehicle.
If mounted on top of cross bars, you will need to make sure you do not exceed the weight capacity of the bars or the roof, which ever is lower. This bag is weather resistant but not waterproof. In order to be waterproof the bag would have to be able to be submerged under water without any water leaking inside the bag.
Instead, this bag is resistant to water. The zipper that closes the bag is covered by a 1 inch flap, but it is still possible for water to get inside. Anything inside the bag that cannot get wet or you want to keep dry will need to be in plastic bags. We make this same recommendation for all of the cargo bags.
