Parts Needed to Install Brake Controller in a 2006 BMW X5
Question:
Does the above article cover everything I need for my 2006 BMW X5 3.0I? I have no factory installed trailer harness. If not, what are your recommendations? Thanks,

Yes, for installing a brake controller in your 2006 BMW X5 the answer page you referenced would have just what you would need.
Since you do not have a factory trailer wiring you will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # 119250KIT. This wiring kit has been confirmed to fit your 2006 BMW X5 and work with it's taillight circuit design. Install video attached.
From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the P3 brake controller # 90195. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well.
