Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2005 Ford F-150 with a 5.4 Liter V8
Question:
Hi. I have an 05 Ford F150 5.4 2WD with factory tow package and factory 10 row transmission cooler. I still get hotter than Im comfortable with when towing heavy loads in mountains. The transmission temp peaks at 225 at the toughest part of the climbs. Only for a few minutes, but still. My question is which cooler is appropriate for my truck since the products all seem to reference the 4.6l engine. Second, do I understand that they are installed inline with the existing factory cooler, so I would be adding additional cooling capacity on top of the factory cooler? Thanks,

225 degrees is a bit hotter than I would want to see on my (or your) transmission so an additional cooler would be a great idea.
Coolers are basically universal so as long as you have room for them they will fit your 2005 Ford F-150 with a 5.4 liter V8. I would go with the part # D13504 which measures 11" Wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep and would do a great job keeping your transmission cool and prolonging it's life.
You will install the cooler in line with your factory cooler so that you get the cooling power of both.
