Weight Distribution System Recommendation for 6,000 lb Trailer

Question:

I need a equalizer hitch for my 2006 Dodge Durango. I tow 2 different trailers so would like 2 extra clamps that the bars connect to. My cargo trailer is gvw of 6000 pounds. Tongue weight I would think of 6 to 700, unsure really. I do tow it heavy from time to time. I have the hitch on the vehicle. I also need a 2 5/16 ball. Can you help?

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

If your trailer weighs in at 6,000 lbs that means your tongue weight would be between 600 and 900 lbs. For a WD you would want the part # RP66022 which has a tongue weight range of 600 to 1,200 lbs.

Fr a 2-5/16 inch ball you would want the part # 19286 and for a second set of frame brackets you would want the part # RP6637.
