Recommended Roof Rack To Carry Yakima MegaWarrior Basket On 1999 Chevy Tahoe With Factory Roof Rack

Im looking to see if the Yakima Megawarrior will fit my husbands 1999 Chevy Tahoe. This is the basket hes wanting, but the manufacturers website is telling me they only have snow racks available for that make and model. Im seeing them elsewhere online, so Im wondering what the deal is. Will it fit? Do I need to buy an adapter kit/different racks or mounts?

I called my contact at Yakima about your husband's 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe. The roof rack that is on the Tahoe is only rated for 74-lbs and that is why there were no options listed for carriers other than snow carriers. I do have a solution that will work for you.

I recommend using the Thule SquareBar Roof Rack. This attaches to the raised side rails on the Tahoe roof and will accommodate several accessories, including the MegaWarrior. To order this roof rack you will need part # TH712500, and part # TH710401. The weight capacity for the roof rack is 165-lbs but you will want to make sure you do not exceed the roof weight capacity for the Tahoe.

The MegaWarrior, part # Y07080 measures 52-inches long x 48-inches wide x 6-1/2-inches tall and weighs 35-lbs.

To secure cargo in the MegaWarrior I recommend a cargo net like part # Y07081. This net measures 45-inches by 38-inches when unstretched.
