Which Gooseneck to 5th wheel adapter will work with a 06 GMC 3500 Long Bed with Una Goose Gooseneck

Question:

I have a 2006 GMC crew cab dually-long bed with a Una-Goose- 2 and 5/16 ball. The ball has a round shank that is retained in a quick disconnect retention holder. Are there any items like the #9480 that will work with this hitch? #2 Have their been any complaints with trailer damage when using the vertical adapters? I wonder what kind of extra stress is placed on the frame and pin box?

I spoke with my contact at Draw-Tite and he did not have any information on whether or not the Hi-Rise Gooseneck to Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch by Bulldog, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch and Reese, part # 9480, would work on a Una-Goose goose neck.

I also spoke with my contact at Una-Goose and he recommended you go with a set up like the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter, part # AM3100.

This adapter will install on the pin box of your fifth wheel pin box and will allow you to have full access to your truck bed when the goose neck hitch is not in use.

You should also check with your trailer manufacturer to make sure your trailer is compatible with one of these vertical adapters, and as long as you stay within the recommendations of your trailer manufacturer you will not have to worry about causing damage to your trailer.
