Tekonsha P-3 Installation Requirements for a 2005 Toyota Tundra 4 Door Limited 4wd Club Cab
Question:
Want to purchase a Tekonsha P-3 # 90195 from you and install myself. My 4door limited4wd club cab has towing package and I have the original OEM jumper harness. Questions: 1. what other parts required or recommended 2. diagram or instructions available assuming we can leverage the OEM jumper harness, would the tekonsha harness be any better? 3. based on the fact my truck has towing pkg and I have the wiring harness, I believe I only need to connect the harness portion, and dont need to run wires to the connector at back of truck, or wire in-line breakers etc.? Thanks so much!

Installing the Tekonsha P-3 Trailer Brake Controller, item # 90195, on your 2005 Toyota Tundra should be very easy since your vehicle has the tow package installed with a factory 7-Way connector.
The P-3 comes with a hard wire harness that plugs into the rear of the brake controller that you can wire your OEM jumper harness to. So for your vehicle you will not need any other parts to install the brake controller other than the brake controller itself and 2 packages of the 12-10 Gauge Butt Connector 2pk, item # 05732-2. You may also want some electrical tape, item # BT66, to tidy up the connections and protect them, after splicing the wires on the OEM harness to the wires on the brake controller harness.
The Tekonsha jumper wire harness includes an extra ground wire because they have had issues with the ground on the Toyota vehicles. If your OEM harness does not have an extra ground wire like the Tekonsha Wire Replacement for Toyota, item # 3040-P, you may want to consider purchasing the aftermarket jumper harness. You will find the harness connector underneath the dash and left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal.
I have posted a link to instructions and a video installation for you to review.
