Universal means that it will fit many vehicles, not that it will fit every vehicle. For your 2012 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab with 5 Foot Bed with Utili-Track system, I contacted the manufacturer because it was not a confirmed fit on our end or on the manufacturer's website. They told me it will fit if you remove the Utili-Track System, but it will not fit without removing the track.

If you do not wish to remove the Utili-Track System, I'd suggest a similar style rack in the Erickson Over-the-Cab Truck Bed Ladder Rack, # EM07707. This rack is adjustable, has an 800 lb capacity, and is a confirmed fit with your Utili-Track System.
