Recommended Transmission Cooler For 2011 Nissan Xterra

Question:

I tow a 3,000 lb travel trailer with a 2011 nissan xterra which has a 5,000 lb tow limit. Which transmission cooler would you recommend? My Nissan has the factory tow package and I do tow in hilly country. thanks

The first thing you need to consider is the size of the transmission cooler. The larger the cooler, the better.

Next you need to make sure you have sufficient room for the cooler. The best location for your cooler is between the radiator and the grille. You will need to measure that area and then find the cooler that will fit.

I recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler, part # D13502. This is a Class lll cooler that measures 11-inches wide, 7-1/4 inches tall, and 7/8 inch deep.
