How to Determine Which Axle of AWD Vehicle Should have Tire Chains Installed
Question:
Hi, I just recently purchased the Glacier 1038 Passenger Cable Tire Chain for my 2015 xv crosstrek. You guys reccomneded these chains for the cross trek and i was curious as to which tires should the chains be put on? Or should all four be chained?

Expert Reply:
In your owners manual there will be a detailed section on which axles should be used for snow chains. Ideally you would put them on all axles, but if only one set is available you want to put them on the primary drive axle.
Most likely it will be the rear axle but the owners manual will clarify this.
