Choosing Weight Distribution Shank with the Correct Rise or Drop

Question:

I have a Reese weight dist. sway control system set up for my Cherokee. I am switching to a suburban for the tow veh. The difference in height of the hitche is 23 to the bottom of the hitch for the suburban and 14/1/2 for the Cherokee. The ball mount has the lower bolt one hole from the bottom. How can I make up the 8 or so difference so the trailer remains level?

To choose the correct rise/drop needed for weight distribution shank, you will need to determine the height of the trailer coupler when it is level. If the top of the trailer hitch receiver is higher than this measurement (which is most likely the case with your Suburban) you will need a shank that offers a drop equal to the difference.

I have linked to a help article that shows how to measure for the rise or drop needed, as well as link to a video showing how to measure for a weight distribution shank.
