A-Frame Electric Trailer Jack Won't Run but the Light Works

If the jack light is working but the motor won't that means that the jack is getting power so we can rule out the fuse/breaker being the problem. It is possible that the battery the jack is connected to has enough power to run the light but not the motor. The battery may need to be charged or replaced. A local auto parts store can test the battery.

Another possible cause is a weak ground. The light doesn't need to have the best ground but the motor which draws more amperage does need a good ground. Most A-frame trailer jacks ground through the mounting location. Make sure that area is clean and free of corrosion.

If the jack was ever over extended that could have damaged the motor itself or the nut/spring on the inside so the jack will not be able to go up and down. In this scenario you would need to replace the jack.
