Where To Install Snow Tire Chains On A 2010 Nissan Frontier SE 4x4

Question:

I have the SE 4X4 version. What chains can I put onto all 4 tires when owners manual tells me use only class S and Tire chains must be installed only on the rear wheels and not on the front wheels.? Smallest clearance on front tires appears to be at sidewall next to steering knuckle assy ~1.125. Thanks I really need chains for all four tires because of the remote area I live...

The basic rule for snow tire chains on a four wheel drive is that you can use them on all 4 wheels, unless noted in the owners manual that it is not allowed. If using snow tire chains on only 2 wheels, on a four wheel drive vehicle, you will install them on the rear wheels. The reason they might not recommend snow chains on the front is because of clearance issues.

I cannot recommend snow tire chains on all 4 wheels if the owners manual says to only use on rear wheels. You might check with the Nissan dealer on why snow chains are not allowed on all 4 wheels.

A Class S snow tire chain means that the minimum sidewall clearance is .59 inches, which is 15 mm. The sidewall clearance is needed so that the snow chains will clear any part of the vehicle that is close to the inner and outer sidewall of the tire. The Class S snow chain is a common requirement on newer vehicles that have larger, low-profile tires.

If you search our snow tire chains for your 2010 Nissan Frontier SE 4x4 you will choose the tire size that is on your vehicle and then you have a clearance option on the left of the page that you can choose. You will want to pick a clearance that is 15 mm or less. This will give you the correct snow chains for your vehicle.

If you could give me the tire size you have on your vehicle I could gladly help you determine the best choice for your application.

I am sending a link to a FAQ page on snow tire chains.
