Can I Connect a Prodigy RF on a 2010 Airstream Trailler with 2009 BMW X5 35d
Question:
I had the BMW Trailer Tow Package installed with 7 pin harness. I will be towing a 2010 Airstream with LED tail lights. The dealer is worried this brake controller wont operate properly. Eg: Pair and/or work the LED tail lights. They are pushing a wired brake controller. Should there be a conern?

I spoke with my contact at Tekonsha and he said that the Tekonsha Prodigy RF Brake Controller - Proportional - Trailer Mounted, part # TK94FR, has no issues with being used on trailers that have LED tail lights.
The LED lights on the trailer do not have any bearing on the brake controller wiring, you should have no problems caused by the LEDs on your trailer.
If you were to have trouble pairing your vehicle to the RF brake controller there are a couple solutions.
For the first one you will turn you vehicle off and but leave the key on while you try to pair the trailer to the vehicle.
The second process is a little more involved and requires a second tow vehicle with a 7-way connector at the rear of the tow vehicle. Next, you will need to connect your trailer with the RF brake controller on it to that vehicle's 7 way. As long as your X5 is within range of your trailer at this point you should be able to pair your trailer to the X5.
Once you get your vehicle to pair with the controller you will not need to repeat this process.
