Do Towing Mirrors # CTM2300B Extend Enough to See Behind an 8 Foot Trailer Towed by 2010 Ford F-150

Question:

I was looking at the CMT 2300B towing mirror for my 2010 F150. It looks to be the best Ive seen and would have very little vibration. But the info. Im lacking is: Does the extension of the mirrors give you sufficient length to see behind an 8ft wide travel trailer you are towing? Thanks in advance.

I can tell you that with the Original Custom Towing Mirror Slide-On Mirror (Pair), # CTM2300B, installed on your 2010 Ford F-150, the mere fact that they stick out beyond the factory mirrors will allow you to see further behind the trailer than with stock mirrors. However, a lot depends on the length of the trailer, how the mirrors are adjusted, and how close to the rear of the trailer you want to see.

I did a little research on the 2010 model F-150 and found that it is 78.90 inches wide or 6-1/2 feet. With the mirrors installed, they will extend out wider than 8 feet and you will be able to see behind the trailer somewhat unless it is a long trailer.

In this case, I recommend using a back up camera, like the Hopkins Rear View Camera with Backup Sensors, # HM60195VA, and wire it to turn on with the headlights. So, every time you turn on the headlights, you will be able to see directly behind the trailer. I have included a couple of videos below featuring this camera.
