What Would Cause Trailer Spring Shackle Straps to Flip Upside Down
Question:
I have a single axle utility trailer. The problem is that ever now and then if I hit a big bump the shackle straps on one side will go over center pushing the axle forward. it needs to be jacked up and popped back into the correct position with the bottom of the straps pointing to the rear of the trailer. Would putting on longer straps prevent this from happening? If not, any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

Is the trailer sitting nose high or low? If the trailer isn't sitting perfectly level that is a typical cause for the shackle straps to flip upside down. Or if they are too short for the application that could cause a problem.
I attached a link to a page that shows how to pick out the correct ball mount to allow a trailer to be towed as level as possible plus a link to a page that has all of our shackle straps.
