2016 Dodge Ram Brake Controller Install Harness Recommendation
Question:
I was told by a dodge tech that a after market brake control still has to be taken back to Dodge to program the computer in order for the controller to work correctly. He said it would be $125. He also said that if there is any electrical problem with the electrical system in the truck that it could void the warranty. My Dodge did not come with a factory control and he said the integrated one is the only one that would not void the warranty. The mopar controller is $280 plus installation of $125. HMMMMMMM sounds fishy to me. If the 3024-P plus the correct harness is used is this correct??

The # 3024-P is the correct brake controller harness needed to install one in a 2016 Ram 2500. As far as what we know from our contacts at Tekonsha and other similar brake controller manufacturers there is no needed programming to use an aftermarket controller with this harness in your truck.
In general we have to divert to the manufacturer of the vehicle for all warranty related situations but it really sounds like the person you spoke with is uninformed or trying to sell you something.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes.
